Mahir F. Haque has experience in municipal, criminal, energy/environment, family, contract, Medicare, and small business tax law. Mr. Haque graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Biology (Magna Cum Laude) in 2013. He then went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2016. During his time in law school, he gained legal experience in an in-house counsel setting, state and federal government agencies. After graduating, Mr. Haque worked in a judicial fellowship with Judge Diego Hunt in Golden, Colorado. Gaining experience in family law and civil-focused docket. Next, Mr. Haque worked as a Land and Title Analyst with Lonetree Energy, assisting oil and gas exploration and development companies in Colorado and Wyoming. After becoming licensed in New Mexico in September 2018, Mr. Haque joined the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals Phoenix Office in 2019, and during the following year at the Small Business Administration, he assisted small businesses around the country navigating the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Mr. Haque joined the City of Hobbs’ City Attorney’s Office as an Assistant City Attorney. In addition to serving as the municipal prosecutor, where he prosecuted misdemeanors ranging from traffic offenses to criminal battery, Mr. Haque advised city officials from various departments on contracts, cemetery matters, open meetings, public records, and court procedural rules.
