Professional ExperienceA former federal judicial law clerk and an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Albuquerque, Ms. Anaya has significant experience representing municipalities, counties, and the State of New Mexico in civil rights and state tort claim litigation including police, prison, detention center, employment and public official liability cases. Ms. Anaya also represents and advises counties and municipalities on all legal aspects of daily governmental affairs including ordinances, contracts, meetings of the governing body, real estate, and Open Meetings Act and Inspection of Public Records Act issues. Ms. Anaya’s practice also focuses on representing public and private sector employers in all phases of employment related litigation and personnel matters. She has defended employers in state and federal courts and in proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New Mexico Human Rights Division, the State Personnel Board and the Department of Workforce Solutions. Further, Ms. Anaya frequently counsels employers regarding compliance with state and federal employment laws, conducts employee training on a variety of employment law topics, and frequently advises employers about issues of employee discipline and discharge and preparation and revision of personnel policies. Ms. Anaya’s experience of over 14 years has enabled her to hone an unmatched ability in navigating complex employment matters, always understanding where the very real human relations of employment situations intersect the fundamentals of and frequent changes in the law.
